Care philosophy

My approach to patient care has always been to put my patients first. I listen to their concerns, their hopes and their fears. And then I educate each person about the options, working collaboratively with the patient to create a truly individualized treatment plan. I’ve dedicated my career to helping individuals and couples navigate fertility treatments, and I care not only about their success but about the entire patient experience.

About Dr. Abae

Dr. Mick Abae is a gifted clinician with wide-ranging credentials and more than 38 years of experience. Ever the perfectionist, Dr. Abae’s academic aptitude was apparent from a young age. His early success in school allowed him to enroll in Fairleigh Dickinson University at just 16 years old, making him the youngest student in his class. After completing his undergraduate studies in biology in three years, at age 19 Dr. Abae set his sights on a master’s degree. After completing his master’s in biology, he went on to medical school at New York Medical College.

Dr. Abae’s greatest strength is his passion for helping all people have babies. Whether the patient is in her 40s, is wheelchair bound or has been diagnosed with a difficult health condition like HIV, Dr. Abae is steadfast in his belief that everyone has the right to have a baby.

He has dedicated his fertility career to helping individuals and couples, the LGBTQ+ community and others in need of reproductive assistance who yearn to be parents realize their dreams. Dr. Abae knows from experience that the best way to accomplish this is by educating his patients and guiding them through their treatment options, empowering them to make their own fertility decisions.

Dr. Abae doesn’t speak in medical jargon, but breaks down complex medical concepts into terms and language patients can understand and relate to. He often uses metaphors to bring a point home clearly.

Fertility doctor & patient ally

His patients quickly find that he is not just a skilled doctor, but a compassionate man with a warm, engaging style. He knows how to help patients relax, in part by getting to know them as individuals with specific wants and needs. Patients develop a bond with him beyond the normal doctor-patient relationship: they trust Dr. Abae with their most important dream of family.

As a fertility specialist, Dr. Abae says his work is really just assisting mother nature so people can conceive. He is always involved in every detail of his patients’ care, seeing his patients at each visit and even conducting his own ultrasound tests and monitoring. An overriding goal for him in all treatment decisions is to make sure the mother and her baby are healthy.

Dr. Abae’s vision for Envita Fertility Center

As the founder of Envita, Dr. Abae made certain that everything about our practice is focused around the patient. This starts with the clinic layout and design and follows through in the medical and administrative processes that are so important for a superb patient experience.

Under Dr. Abe’s guidance, Envita has been engineered for the comfort and convenience of our patients, giving them a unique boutique experience coupled with Envita’s state-of-the-art facility. He ensured the IVF lab contains the most up-to-date equipment and runs at peak performance, headed by our renowned on-site lab director.

Following Dr. Abae’s daily example, the Envita staff has a passion for the small things, striving for perfection and success for every patient. Dr. Abae’s vision for Envita is to provide excellent customer service for a dynamic, connected patient experience. Believing that everyone can be treated, Dr. Abae ensures that Envita offers unfettered access to care.

Reproductive endocrinology background & training

After completing his medical education in New York, Dr. Abae relocated to Florida, where he worked at a local hospital before opening his own practice, Fertility and Genetics, in 2002. Just two years later Dr. Abae established a surgery center to serve his gynecological and reproductive patients.

In 2020, Dr. Abae moved to Southern California where he founded the Envita Fertility Center and now serves as our lead fertility physician and medical director.

Dr. Abae has medical licenses in five states, including California. He holds several patents, including one for a laparoscopic instrument that is used to manipulate the uterus during laparoscopic surgery.

Over Dr. Abae’s fertility career, he has completed over 5,000 IVF procedures and over 3,000 corrective reproductive surgeries.
